Being that I have so much free time on my hands, I have recently been listening to and analyzing a plethora of of songs. A few lyrics in particular caught my attention. Not because of the obscenely high notes they were sung in, or because they reminded me of those old nursery rhymes we were all forced to endure in the wee ages of our childhood; but rather because of the truth that they entail. In this newest addition to my blog, I wish to discuss some of these brilliant truths with you.
Truth Number 1:
This first essential truth can be found in Robert Palmer's Bad Case of Loving You. The opening line of the second verse states "a pretty face don't make no pretty heart". This statement is one that is essential to remember for all aspects of life. Most of all when trying to find yourself a partner. You must always remember that there is more to a person than what is on the outside. You can find the most beautiful specimen in the history of the world, you can think the world of this person. You can be convinced that this person is the one for you and that what you have is flawless and everlasting; that is until your partner decides otherwise. You will be racking your brain for what will seem like eternity for a possible explanation to this irrational behavior, and you most probably won't find one. That is until you come across this post and understand that it is because you overlooked the most important part of your partner; The Heart. Mr. Palmer said it best... just because the face is pretty doesn't say anything about whats on the inside.
Truth Number 2:
The next essential truth can be found in the third verse of the song Hero of Love, by LIVE. "A saint is a sinner, a sinner is a saint. It's all just the cloaks we hide behind, a cartoon in the brain". A truer statement has never been said my dearest readers. LIVE are telling us to be careful. Much like what Mr. Palmer said regarding not falling for the beautiful facade on the outside, here we are being told not to unthinkingly trust the outer shell of a person. "A saint is a sinner, a sinner is a saint", once again we are being told that we can't judge based on the outer appearance of things. We must look beyond the cloak they are hiding behind and see the truth underneath. While this may seem extremely difficult sometimes due to the persuasiveness of these facades, you can not let yourself be fooled.
Truth Number 3
The next essential truth is found in the rock n' roll classic You Give Love A Bad Name written by none other than Mr. John Bon Jovi himself. In the first verse of this masterpiece, Mr. Jovi writes: "An angel's smile is what you sell, you promise me heaven then you put me through hell". I don't think I could have chosen a more appropriate truth to finish off this entry with. This sentence not only fits ideally with our previous two truths, but it also brings in a whole new aspect. The verbal deception. Mr. Jovi teaches us that not only do we have to be cautious about deceiving appearances and actions, but to also be extremely cautious when it comes to verbal confrontations. You can not be fooled by a hefty promise, or persuaded by a few kind words. You must train yourself to be aware of these scammers and deceivers alike.
The pleasure you will gain from the temporary happiness and felicity you might gain from falling into the clutches of these scam artists is not worth the emotional and/or physical distress that you will be caused once you realize too late that they were deceiving you the entire time. I am trying to be a friendly author here and doing my best to warn my loyal readers about the numerous forms of evil that are out there in this wonderful sphere we call home. Watch your backs my friends, and be careful who you decide to associate with.
Adios, Arrivederchi, and Adieu my brethren... Until next time that is.
